Marking another chapter in life

Its been a while since we've updated...
Both of us have been caught up with both our full-time jobs, and spending our weekends shooting on photo walks. =)

Though its a little late, and most have already graduated, nevertheless, here's to all the graduates out there who have now closed a chapter in their life, and opened another.

Few months back, our friend Cas approached us to shoot her graduation pictures. Something I couldn't turn down because I knew it was going to be fun shooting Cas, someone I knew as fun-loving, crazy, hilarious and independent like most CHIJ girls I knew. =)

In preparation for her shoot, Chris and I even went and bought for ourselves a new backdrop, since we had found out that Cas's favorite color was pink. (I hope I didn't get it wrong Cas... )

Photobucket

It was fun shooting them, a lovely family of 5 plus their 1 dog.
I remember asking Cas how many family members we'd be shooting and she said "My parents, my grandma, my sister, me and... SNOWY (her dog)! So 6!"

So that day commemorated click! photography's 2nd dog in our studio.

The wedding of Paul & Joyce

It's always great to be able to get the opportunity to share that special day between two people who love each other on their wedding day. This opportunity came knocking on click!'s door in the form of Paul (the neighbor) and Joyce. We were set, we were ready, and we had many "shots" in our minds.

We checked out the place, familiarized ourselves with it, and the night before was spent ensuring we would not leave anything behind. We wanted the day to be perfect.

It was a request from the bride and groom, that they loved candidness! And from having been neighbors with Paul for more than a decade, we knew what they needed.

To make things that extra fun, we set up a make-shift studio on site and no doubt about it, everyone loved it! We gave them white boards to messages on, and they just kept coming till the end of the day. =)

Inspire to inspire...

With all the "Emo" bands being the "in" thing, comes our "Emo" friend, Derek, an aspiring musician and model. So when the two of our interest meet, it was a great trade-off. We got our model, and he gets what he's always wanted to do, model.

Just a day before the shoot with Derek in mind, Chris and I went out and bought ourselves a grey backdrop to add to our backdrop family collection. =)

It was great shooting someone with passion for what they aspire to be.

Rocker music playing in the background, accompanied by its occasional guitar solos, he gave us emo, rocker, chill and more!

With guitar in hand, jacket, and eyeliner, we got these.

Not So Serious...

Durians, you either love it or in some cases get totally put off by the stomach churning aromas they possess. Every time durian season swings by Valerie's family gets together for some good ole' durian lovin'. Big ass fruit wholesale center grade baskets line the driveway, a table strewed with spent durian shells, and of course the sound of the trademark Tan laughter filling the air.

Prior to picking up the durians...which was no easy task in itself...we bought ourselves a nice set of flash gels. It came in a boxed roll of a whole array of colors, several varied shades of you name it, its all there. Inspiration struck me while stuffing myself with all that sweet, thick, sticky yellow stuff. Yes I'm inappropriate like that.

Together with our likeminded Ivan and Carlene...I present to you the results!

Stephanie...

Another commonality we share among the two of us, other than the obvious; is our love for pets. Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas, you name it we've probably seen it in a glass enclosure and sighed in unison.

Steph's like that too, just like that; but most likely with more animated sighs.

She brought her darling shitzu, Shiro, over. Shiro along with Candy, Valerie's shitzu, are stars of sorts in the advertising world. The pair appeared in a Straits Times full page ad...yes it's true!

We got some shots of Steph in a wonderful blue Swirl dress. I love their clothes, and all the label stands for. Steph kinda epitomizes that very ideal as well. She was initially a little nervous but soon loosened up...yes we have a way with our subjects. Here are a couple...

We've got a wind machine too...yes it's true!

And lastly my personal favorite out of all the shots...

Thanks Steph, we would love to shoot more pics of you!

You're too cute for words! :D

The "LONG eyelashes, BIG eyes" club

Nothing beats the genuine smiles of kids when taking their pictures, especially when you don't have to tell them "ok...1, 2, 3 SMILE". All it takes is someone by the side making them laugh, or all it takes is a funny face and they crack up.

Everything's spontaneous, and Au Naturale. =)

So the first kids we thought of, Gary (my cousin) and Michelle's 2 little ones, Gabriel and Mabel. Thanks for the help from our assistant aka mummy lam, who made them crack up in smiles ever so often.

Lesson learned, always have entertainment and props for them to play with (there can never be enough of them!!!) and a funny assistant aka mummy lam there to make them smile.

Props used that day:
1) 2 Mario character toy cars from those $1 wind up capsule machines(those that you pull back and will run all over the shop when you let go)
2) 1 Teddy bear (for the girl)
3) Half a packet of Fruit Tella! (come on... you and I know those sweets "Rocked our Socks" at the age)
4) A feather pen (For Mabel to play "The bear needs to be cleaned...dust it dust it")
5) Guitar Hero's guitar
6) Miniature football
7) Slinky
8) Their own little hamster that pooped all over our back drop

Can't wait for the new arrival of their little sister!!! Cause then...Baby Pictures!

Woah is We

So here goes, our big baby steps off the deep end into taking our photography to the next level. We've been shooting for some time now, started off with the initial fascination of capturing and documenting everything we could fervently do.

Shooting pictures, capturing beauty, discovering the unseen, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary...yeah the list continues.

We went out and did what any sane person would do, got ourselves a roll of 9ft seamless white, a set of Elinchroms, triggers, stands, clamps, the whole works; and started shooting like there was no tomorrow. Our wallets cried in agony, but our passion never believes in taking a number.

After a long hot stuffy car ride back, here's the aftermath...

Lesson learned, intercommunication skills are extremely important when dealing with a huge roll of paper.

Yes that along with good hand-eye coordination as well.

I guess that's where we're strong in, we've been together for as long as I can remember it. If not for communication, I shudder to think where we'd be now.

We're on this journey together, we invite you to join us; full steam ahead...

hold tight.
